Accessible Random Picker
PickerBoard is designed to be a keyboard-friendly and screen-reader-friendly random picker. The goal is a simple flow: add entries, start a pick, hear the winner, then choose Pick Again or Close.
Designed for direct use
The app uses short button names, simple on/off controls, and direct winner announcements. Accessibility features run in the background without adding extra setup steps.
Keyboard-friendly controls
The main controls are available from the keyboard. Start Pick begins the picker, Stop Pick is available while the picker is running, and the winner popup keeps focus on Pick Again and Close until a choice is made.
Screen-reader winner announcements
When the picker finishes, PickerBoard announces the result in a short format: “Winner: name. Pick Again or Close.” Focus then moves to the Pick Again button, with Close available as the next option.
Readable stationary entries
PickerBoard keeps entries still while the scanner moves across the board. This can make the selection easier to follow visually than a picker where all names spin or blur during the reveal.
Accessible setup options
Board order is presented as a one-choice group with Input order, Alphabetical order, and Remix order. Toggles use clear on/off wording for Sound, Remove winner after pick, and Continue from last stop.
Winner history
The Winners area includes Copy winners and Clear winners controls. The winner history is readable as a list, without making every winner an extra tab stop.
Privacy-first accessibility
PickerBoard runs in your browser. It does not require an account, public board, upload, or database. Browser-only saving can remember entries and settings on the same device.
Accessibility notes
PickerBoard is actively tested for simpler keyboard and screen-reader use, but no website can guarantee a perfect experience for every device, browser, and assistive technology combination. If something is confusing, the goal is to simplify it rather than add more words.
